Sunday, 11:40am: @dellespeegle 🇺🇸 stands in front of her pegboard, glaring at it as if it’s been rude to her. If you look closely, you’ll see that it has — Dani’s hands are raw and bloody, the pegs she holding smeared red from where they’ve bit into her palms.
It’s almost impossible to climb anything in this condition, but Dani is doing it anyway. It’s slow going, but the crowd cheers her on as though she’s winning the event, visibly inspired by her grit. As they watch, Dani jumps back up and, slipping on her own blood and wincing with the pain of it, fights her way down the pegboard one hole at a time and eventually gets it done.
Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
